Can I work at my own pace? It’s designed as a 6-week course (42 days) but you’ll have 90 days to complete everything.

Will the assignments and quizzes be graded? Everything in the course is designed to teach, not to score your performance. There will be no “grades” for anything, as my only goal is to make sure you learn the material.

Will this course guarantee me a job as a script reader? No. However, the course includes training on where to look for employment, and how to improve your chances of securing a job. Plus, I’ll continue to work with you 1-on-1 after the course ends to provide guidance and mentoring.

Will including my completion of this course on my resume help me secure a job as a script reader? Possibly. Most applicants for script reading jobs have zero familiarity with professional script reading and zero experience doing it. As such, any training course like this on your resume could set yours apart from the hundreds of others, but we do not promise that it will.

If I complete the course, will you write a Letter of Recommendation? Only students demonstrating a clear understanding of the material, as evidenced by the assignments you turn in, will be afforded a Letter of Recommendation. That said, I will work with every student as much as I can to get everybody to that level. Please be aware that if I were to write Letters of Recommendation for students who don’t demonstrate skill and an understanding of the material, my recommendations would shortly become meaningless.

Who is the instructor for this course? The instructor is writer and filmmaker Brian O’Malley. O’Malley got his start as a script reader for a talent and literary agency in 1994, then worked as a reader and script coordinator at the studio of B-movie maverick Roger Corman (Little Shop of Horrors, Death Race 2000). In 1999, he founded the script reading company Screenplay Readers, where he continues to work with a team of talented readers to help producers and agents find good material, and help writers make their screenplays stronger and more marketable.
